How To Build a Social Media Presence for a Podcast

Podcasts are on a massive uptick in popularity over the last decade. The space that talk radio once occupied has now been taken over by podcasting, and for each popular topic, as well as some niche ones, there are multiple options for individuals to listen to. That raises the question then, how does someone make their podcast stand out? What can you create as part of your brand to further enhance the likelihood your podcast stands out?

Thanks to Spotify and its new program, Spotify for Podcasters, there’s a helpful guide on how to change up your social media game to expand your reach.

Short Clips:

On social media platforms that allow video/audio content to be posted, post short clips! Think of it like a trailer for a movie or a snippet of a song you hear on TikTok. That little bit of content peaks your interest quickly and leaves you wanting more. If you can find a 10-15 second bit of really good content within your podcast, post that with limited context and use it as a teaser!

Utilize Guests:

The media website Wistia makes a great point when it comes to podcast promotion. Guests can expand your reach by introducing you to an already established social circle, or a whole field of content. If you have guests on your podcast and ask them to promote it for you after it’s posted, it’s mutually beneficial for the both of you as your own individual audiences are likely to cross over and interact with the content provided by the other individual.

Capitalize on Trends:

Jump on trends as they happen if they are remotely relevant to your content. If you can tie in a trend that is gaining in popularity to your work, you could see huge gains in popularity! With every trend there seems to be one individual who gains a ton of popularity by means of a stitch/duet of the content related to the trend, and why shouldn’t that be you?
