We're Here For You
The Pursue and Persuade team has been working hard to keep you updated on how digital media practices are adapting to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
As students of the media, we have learned how important it is for businesses, organizations, groups and everybody in between to be on top of critical issues occurring throughout society- in this case it is the Corona Virus pandemic. As COVID-19 affects people from all over the globe, it is not a subject matter to ignore, ignorance from leading figures during this time is easily seen and can lead to backlash. Companies, especially, during this time recognize the potential for backlash and have been making the public know they are on top of the situation; some have introduced social media campaigns to reunite the public and be a leading figure in the ongoing situation.
Here at Pursue and Persuade we have been taking an in-depth look at different organizations and how they have changed their social media presence to reflect the changes being made due to COVID-19.
From leading global organizations like the World Health Organization or the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to the United States’ National Basketball Association (NBA) the National Hockey League (NHL) it has become extremely important to be on top of how the pandemic is shifting and changing. Students have analyzed these different organizations to provide readers with an interest in digital media an insight into how important it is to adapt to the public.
It was found the World Health Organization and the CDC faced mass changes over their social media accounts and websites as they are an important guiding force for people to follow. The NBA and the NHL may not be a leading health organization, but due to their large US following, they took their influence to not only educate the public, but try to make light of a tough situation.

As the times are still uncertain, it is important for these leading public groups to stay at the forefront of the pandemic to provide people with either updated information, or with social media that is encouraging. How different businesses or organizations choose their methodology regarding their social media presence can be entirely unique, like in the NBA’s case, or it can be simply posting words of encouragement. However, being proactive in a time of global need is something that again, can not be overlooked.
