How to Navigate Pinterest
Home page: The home page when you first get on Pinterest will be different soon enough, so if you aren't interested in what you see, do not fear. Much like other apps, you control what you see on the home page. With Pinterest you do not need to follow many or any accounts at all to see what kind of content you want to see. This brings me to my next point, the search section.
Search section: In the search section is where you will slowly evolve your home page and the types of content you will find. For example, let's say you want Pinterest to see streetwear designs you can put on a t shirt, you could search up “streetwear designs” and you will see a plethora of results that match up to your search. Once you find just one design you like you can now use my next point, creating a board.
Creating a board: A board is essentially a file on Pinterest where you can save photos/videos you see and can store them in a board and categorize them to make your account more organized and easier to use. Let's say for example the first design you see is a purple design, you can add it to a board titled “purple designs” so now in the future when you want to see designs you've come across that had purple in it, you can look in that board and see all of the purple designs you ewer saved. Boards are essential for having an easy to navigate account, and it really allows you to get the most out of the app.
Posting: Whether you are posting to sell products or posting just to share a photo, you should go for it! If you are trying to sell a shirt, make sure you have a solid background (usually black or white) to limit distractions away from the shirt. Use hashtags quickly describing the shirt (e.g. #nike #whiteshirt). If you are posting just to share a picture there are really no steps to follow, just take your picture and hit post!
Updates: Pinterest has a very useful part of the app called updates. If you save a lot of pictures of Brazil for example, Pinterest will take note of this and update you every so often of new photos shared on the app of Brazil. This feature takes time so Pinterest can get a feel for content you enjoy over a significant time period. You should definitely check the update section of the app, so you don't have to keep searching for the same thing repeatedly because chances are, Pinterest already saved a folder of content to show you!
Pinterst can be a very fun app for creators/buyers/sellers/viewers. Whatever you plan on being on the app, be sure to utilize these key features and have fun!
