Double Minor: Sport Marketing and Digital Marketing

I signed up for this class because, when picking my courses for this semester, I didn't want to just fill up my schedule with random electives. I aimed to choose classes that would actually help me learn and benefit me both academically and in my future career. Since I'm into marketing, it's crucial for me to grasp how technology works and how people use it to get what they need.

A little bit about me…

In December 2024 I will become the first college graduate in my family. I originally come from Prishtina, Kosovo. I moved here just before the 5th grade and my love for traveling roots from traveling back and forth so much. My family has a thing for business, and that rubbed off on me early on. In college, I found my groove in marketing and sales, so every day I'm working hard to do my best, whether it's diving into research, connecting with people, or acing my courses.

This a snapshot of one of the centers in the city of Prishtina, and what I love about this is that it shows the people of Kosovo talking to one another and I can almost guarantee you that these people conversing most likely did not know each prior to this photo, the people there are so talkative and welcoming you will never feel like an outsider. P.S yes the trees do in fact look that green in real in life.

Sharing my wisdom and what I have learned in the last year…

Your mindset in the morning determines your mood for the whole day. You do not have to be a morning person to start the day with a positive mindset, if this is hard for you then make adjustments to your routine and environment so that you can become a better version of yourself.

What I am hoping to learn from this course this semester….

Strategic Planning: Understanding how to create effective digital marketing strategies aligned with overall business goals, target audience identification, and competitor analysis.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization): Gaining insights into optimizing digital content for search engines, improving website visibility, and understanding the role of keywords and backlinks.

Advance my skills and knowledge that is needed to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of digital marketing and contribute effectively to the success of businesses and brands in the online space.

Classwork

The Art of Trust in the Digital Age: In today's digital world, students face trust issues online due to virtual interactions, cybersecurity threats, misinformation, and digital literacy gaps. Despite these challenges, they can empower themselves through critical thinking and seeking guidance. Building trust online requires transparency, consistency, security measures, social proof, and responsive communication.

Mobile consumer habits during COVID-19: The COVID-19 pandemic caused a surge in mobile device usage for various reasons. Lockdowns and social distancing led to increased reliance on mobile devices for remote classes, virtual hangouts, and work-from-home setups. Traditional entertainment options took a back seat, pushing people towards mobile platforms for streaming, gaming, and staying connected. Online shopping and contactless payments saw a boost, making mobile commerce and payment apps more prominent. Fitness and news apps gained popularity, and schools transitioned to online learning. Remote work became the norm, driving up mobile device usage for professional purposes. Social media apps played a crucial role in maintaining social connections during isolation, while online shopping surged due to restrictions on physical stores. These changes are expected to have lasting effects.

Is AirBnb using its social media properly?: Airbnb has emerged as a go-to resource for travelers, offering diverse accommodations globally. Social media audits are crucial for businesses to assess their online strategies. Airbnb's platforms, like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Airbnb X, vary in engagement and content. Opportunities for Airbnb include leveraging platforms like TikTok for engagement and personalizing advertising. Competitors like Expedia pose threats, urging Airbnb to diversify content and explore innovative strategies.

What I Learned:

In my exploration of digital analytics, I've uncovered its significance in today's business landscape. It's fascinating to observe how user behavior data provides invaluable insights into online interactions. Armed with this knowledge, I've learned to make informed decisions, shaping marketing strategies and product offerings to better resonate with our audience. Through digital analytics, I've also discovered the art of measuring campaign performance and identifying patterns that influence consumer behavior. This hands-on experience has not only refined my analytical skills but has also ignited a passion for leveraging data to drive impactful outcomes. As a student, diving into the world of digital analytics has been an eye-opening journey, offering practical lessons that extend beyond the classroom and into real-world applications.
