Meet Vincent Tranghese

I’m Vincent Tranghese, and I’m from Longmeadow, Massachusetts. I’m a double major in Marketing and Sports Information and Media. I took this class because it is a requirement for my Sports Information and Media major.

My approach to work is to get things done early. I like to get work done, specifically papers, at least a day before the deadline. I do this because I like to stay ahead of the curve in case something comes up and I can’t finish the assignment. As for my writing itself, I tend to write very slowly. I have been told that the best method of writing is to write quickly and edit a lot later. I tend to do the opposite. I will write a sentence or two, then immediately edit it to the way I want, then I will take my time to write the next sentence. While this method takes up a lot of time, it is very effective in putting out my best work.

Something that readers should know about me, but did not ask is I am a big New York Giants fan. I will support their starting quarterback, Daniel Jones, as long as he plays in the NFL, no matter what team he plays for.

One thing that I learned from 2023 that I want to bring into the year is to appreciate the people around you while they are there. Life gets in the way, people come and go so it’s good be with people while they are around.

Three things I would like to get out of this class are:

  1. How to spice up a webpage. I know the basics of how to create a page and put blogs in, but my knowledge beyond that is very limited. I would like to learn knew skills on how to make a page more appealing to my target audience.

  2. I would like to improve my social media post-making ability. I am part of a club on campus called Consumer $ense where we write blogs, record podcasts and post on social media, specifically Instagram. Every time I volunteer to post on Instagram, I struggle with making a graphic on Canva. I would like to pick up new skills for making these graphics so I can help that side of the clubs operation better.

  3. I would like to learn how to better strategize for events. I intend to work on the events side of operations in my career, however, I would still like to learn how the social media aspect works. This will give me a better understanding and help me work with the social media team when running events.

My End-of-semester Recap

Blogs I’ve written this year:

The Marketing Strategy for mobile apps: the past and present

The Presence of the NHL on Social Media

Podcasting in Modern Media and My Experience With It

PWHL Dashboard

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Their Digital Marketing Strategy

2 Things I’ve learned:

The first thing I learned was the importance of different captions. The different social media pages all have vastly different captions for the same post. Because every social media has different demographics, it is important to tailor the content to the specific demographic. What is said on Facebook should be vastly different than what is said on TikTok because it has much different viewers. The second thing I learned was how important posting times are. When you post your content can vastly affect the viewers it has. Depending on your target demographic, you will want to make your post at a specific time to produce the highest engagement.
