Meet Kiara Lin
About Me
Hi there! I am a second semester senior majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Sports Information & Media. I am from Cranberry Township, PA which is north of Pittsburgh. I originally was a Sports Information & Media major and had dreams of becoming a sports broadcaster. I have always admired the notable woman in that field as it is predominantly a male industry. However, I have had multiple internships working in real estate as well as sales that led me to change to a Communication Studies major. I am happy about my decision and will be working in sales after graduation. I will also be relocating to Tampa, FL later this year!
Why am I taking This Class?
I am taking this class to learn more about social media marketing. Social media has become a crucial part of our world today. From healthcare providers to makeup artists, everyone is utilizing platforms for their businesses.
Something to Know About Me
I prefer to go by Kiki! I have had this nickname since I was a baby, even my doctors refer to me as Kiki. I also originally started my career at Penn State University at the main campus. I decided to transfer to Duquesne after my first semester was in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and it was hard being on such a large campus but feeling so trapped! I still go and visit my friends there and always have a great time. There is nothing else that compares to State College, but I am happy where my college career has taken me here at Duquesne. I always tell myself it is the people that make the place! I am a member of the Alpha Phi chapter on campus. I have made endless memories and so many friends from this sorority. Being in this sorority has truly shaped my college experience in the best ways!

What I Learned From 2023
In 2023 I entered my senior year of college. To this point I have internships and really put a focus on where I want to be after I graduate this spring. As this is such a great thing to be prepared and have an idea of what I want my life to look like shortly, I started to get carried away from the present. I started to obsess over finding the perfect apartment in Tampa, how I wanted to decorate it, the exact company I wanted to work for, my perfect starting salary, etc. This caused me to drift away from the present moments I was in. As I still am just as determined to find an ideal job and location, I am making sure I keep my focus on my present. It is bittersweet coming into my last semester of college and I really want to focus on enjoying my time in school while it is still in front of me. I have the rest of my life to be an adult, but for now I want to make the most of every moment left here for me at Duquesne!
