Meet Lexi

About Me!

My name is Alexis Start, but I typically go by Lexi. I am 17 years old and I am senior at General McLane High school, while taking college classes at Duquesne. I cannot wait to graduate high school!! When I do graduate high school, I plan on majoring in psychology hoping to become a forensic psychologist.

I am taking this class because I feel that it would be a fun elective to do from home. I love going shopping, and eating out!! I have two very crazy dogs that never leave me alone. One is a Pitbull mix, and the other is a Siberian Husky. My dogs are my study buddies, and keep me on track with school work.

I took 3 college courses with Penn State Behrend and loved it, so I decided to try Duquesne. I love taking college courses as a high school student because it helps me show my family how hard I work on school.

Approach For Projects

For projects I plan on getting them done early and never waiting until the last minute. For projects I will create a list of things I need to do for it before starting on the actual project. I plan on making them the best to my ability. I lastly plan on making a plan for the project before completing it, and making it all come together before it is finished.

Something To Learn About Me

I worked at Waldameer and Water World over the summer, and was a ride operator. I do plan on going back to Waldameer when summer is back. In 2022 I went to Paris with my high school, and it became a trip I will never forget. I also am a girl who is obsessed with anything Bath and Body Works. My current job is being a host at a local restaurant called Crossroads.

My favorite type of music would have to be country. I have gone to a Jason Aldean concert and a Cole Swindell concert. My dad would always play country music in the car, so it always stuck with me. I do also listen to some rap, but I generally am super open to any types of music out there. Besides jazz.

I love traveling everywhere, even if it its 20 minutes outside of Edinboro. My favorite place I have traveled to would be Italy. If I could move there, I would. They have the best food and everyone is so nice there. At the moment I am convincing my family to go to the Bahamas because I really want to swim the pigs there. I have been on a cruise to Mexico, and I would go again.

I love watching Dancing With The Stars every Tuesday night, but this year I am attending their tour in Erie.

Three Things I Want To Get Out Of This Class

1.) I want to understand why different platforms attract different age groups. Like why Facebook is only being used by the older generation. Along with why everyone says Facebook is only for older generations.

2.) I want to be able to learn how to use different social media apps in an effective and professional way.

3.) I want to learn how to gain and attract an audience on all different social media platforms. Along with what types of things to post on each platform.

Things I Learned In 2023

In 2023 I learned that not everyone is going to believe in you, but that’s why you have yourself. Not everyone will like you and want you to be successful. The person that we need to believe in most is ourselves because we need to love ourselves before we can learn to love other people. When we don’t believe in ourselves we can’t believe in others.

I also learned that no person can truly make you happy. The only person who can make you happy is yourself.

Things I Learned During Social Media and Digital Marketing

Throughout class, there were many different things that I learned. One being that the color of things changes everything. Say you make your website all in red, it would make the viewers have a bad and/or mad urgency. Using Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, the show uses bright and engaging colors to keep the audience in the show. All colors in websites are there for reason, and a good one. The colors in Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood are there to make you feel safe and comfortable.

Another thing I learned in class is how the things you post are what reflect you, and views. I posted blog on influencer marketing taking over, and it did really well on the apps that i posted it too. It’s not something i expected people to want to learn as much as it seemed. Overall, I learned everything on your post such as; captions, the photo, and even the hashtags are what make your post want to be clickable. Without knowing this, I wouldn’t be able to grow my personal brand.

Things i’ve written

During the Social Media and Digital Marketing class, I have written 5 blogs (including our final blog). Each blog talks about a different topic within the digital marketing aspect.

The first blog I wrote was the AirBnb Social Media Audit. During this blog, I explore all of the social media accounts of AirBnb. Going through each account, I notice Facebook is the least used.

The third blog I wrote was Influencer Marketing Taking Over?. This blog I explored how influencers can influence us to buy different things that they want.

The fourth blog I wrote was a landing page for American Eagle. This blog was exploring the different ways to gain customers through a landing page.
