Meet Sean O'Donnell
Hey everyone! My name is Sean O'Donnell. I'm a junior Sports Information and Media major with a Business Management minor. I am from Yonkers, New York which is just outside of New York City.
I am taking this class as a requirement for my major and I believe this could end up being one of the most valuable classes I take during my time at Duquesne. I am an athletics marketing intern for Duquesne athletics working with all our sports teams here so this year I have been working very closely with social media marketing tactics. I am excited to use what I have learned in the marketing department in this class, as well as taking what I learn from this class and using it at work!
The Sports Information and Media major at Duquesne has introduced me to a lot of great people and has given me a lot of fantastic connections. I feel as if my classmates and I in this major are well rounded sports media talents in our own ways, and this class will offer a side of media that some of us are unaware of. The lessons we learn this semester and the connections we make will continue to add on to our respective skillsets.
During high school I ran a Steelers fan page and amassed a small community with over 6,000 Instagram followers. I learned a lot about myself including that I love forming tight knit communities, and I went through a lot of trial and error during that time in my life. Experimenting with Instagram left me with a better understanding of Instagram insights.
Three things I would like to get out of this class are new approaches to social media post executions, how to have productive group discussions about social media marketing and to learn about the experiences of my professor and classmates.
Something I learned in 2023 that I want to bring into this year is that you must take the good with the bad. Don't get too high or too low on things in your life, just take it how it is and try and enjoy the little things.
Something people should know about me is that aside from obviously loving sports, I am into streetwear fashion and my favorite show is Breaking Bad.
I am very excited to get to know you all and dive more into this subject.
