Meet Heleyna Pentuk

Introduction:

Hi everyone! My name is Heleyna Pentuk and I am a sophomore majoring in Public Relations and Integrated Marketing Communications. I decided to take this class because I have always been interested in social media marketing and would love to strengthen my skills in social media communication. Regarding my academic approach, I find it easier to do an assignment if I understand WHY the assignment is significant to the class. In other words, I am able to understand assignments better when I know the end goal of the assignment. I also find it easier to learn when real world examples are used.

Facts about me:

  • I am a huge Swiftie. My favorite song of hers is “Right Where You Left Me” but I know every song off by heart. Also, I was at the Eras tour concert Pittsburgh night two! I also am a fan of Lana Del Rey, Mitski, Sabrina Carpenter, Conan Gray and Gracie Abrams.

  • I love hiking, going on drives, and visiting small coffee shops with my friends. I also really enjoy thrifting and shopping for (or at least looking at) clothes.

  • My favorite book is Normal People by Sally Rooney. I love this book with my whole soul. Some of my favorite shows are Bojack Horseman, Stranger Things and Skins UK. And my favorite movies are Midsommar, Pearl and Bones and All.

My goals for the class:

  1. One thing I would like to out of this class is to develop and grow my creative skills. I want to be able to represent a brand through aesthetics, captions and comments.

  2. Another thing I would like to get out of this class is to learn the role of social media in the overall marketplace. How big of a role does social media have in marketing? How big of a role will social media have on marketing in the future?

  3. The last thing I would like to get out of this class is an understanding of how what I learn in class applies to the real world.

One thing I learned in 2023 I want to bring in the new year:

In 2023, I really worked on having more patience with myself to avoid becoming very overwhelmed with school work. This is something I will continue working on as I go into this semester so I can be perform at my fullest potential.

My blogs from this semester:

How has TikTok affected consumer spending?

Liquid Death Social Media Audit

Building a Landing Page

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Digital Strategy

2 things I learned:

First, I learned about the importance of using social media to promote my work and reach new audiences. I learned this through my group project where I would post my blog to the class’ social media accounts. It also made me understand how important it is to post constantly and post content that fits the niche of your target audience.

I also learned how to use analytics to better understand my work. Throughout the semester I have been using Google and Squarespace Analytics to observe how many people read my blogs, how long they read them for, and the demographics of the viewers. This helps me understand what works and what doesn't in my blogs and inspires me to be more compelling with what I write. I plan using analytic tools for future work.
