How streaming platforms have changed the way we watch TV and Movies

Binging Shows and Movies

Since streaming platforms have become available, binging a whole season in a day has become a practice of many consumers. We see that people will start to watch and become addicted which in results makes them watch the whole season in a day. Having these streaming services, these things are more likely to be done and able to be done due to having the whole series at the palm of your hand. With Netflix, HBO Max and other platforms, we can enjoy multiple episodes all at once without having to wait for the suspense of next weeks episode.

Spoiler Alerts have become much more prevalent due to having the entire show come out at once. Since you are able to watch and complete the show so fast, most people on the internet are going to watch then post about it which in result could lead to you finding out the ending. In the one website article i found, it mentioned how some people enjoy knowing the spoilers to know if they will like the show or to just know what they should expect. It says “Often, the weight of suspense proves too much for some viewers. Spoilers help reduce the anxiety they experience when they don’t know what will happen next.” Seeing as though this helps some people, it also can hurt those who did not intend to find out the ending.

Movie Theaters

Since the rise of streaming platforms, we have seen less and less people go and use movie theaters. With Hulu, Netflix and so many others, we see movies being released straight to the platform so others won’t have to go view the movie. It has become increasingly popular for Netflix to create their own movies as well which takes away from people going and driving to see a movie. In website 2, over 61% of people are now skipping out on the movie theater experience due to having their own streaming services at home.
