Mobile Advertising
What is Mobile Advertising and how does it work?
Using our phones and mobile devices has become a massive part of our everyday lifestyle. Today over 6.5 billion people use a smartphone every day. On average people spend 5-6 hours a day on there phones, so how does mobile advertising work.
There are plenty of ways to advertise on someone’s mobile phone, but the best way to explain it is how google, Facebook, and so many other companies create revenue through advertising. Facebook runs ads through there free app and website. Facebook is of course a free to use platform that allows others to connect and share content. Uniquely Facebook began to run algorithms to see who was viewing what and how long you were viewing specific content. Then they run ads based on your likeness. If I were to watch a video about fish, ,maybe a website about fish tanks ad would show up while I was scrolling through my content. All ads today are mostly like this and companies like Facebook and YouTube use this exact algorithm to show certain ads to people who view specific things. Although I hate ads I can admit that the system works and i’ve personally seen ads according to my interest. With how much people look at there phones all day, I understand how easy it would be for companies to understand what the consumer is interested in.
