Meet Michael

Hi, I’m Michael. I am from Pittsburgh, P.A., and I am a junior Sports Info & Media major.

Reason for taking this class:

I want to be better at creating social media content for a potential client one day, as well as strengthen the skills I already have.

Something to know, but didn’t ask:

I can play Mario Kart with my hands behind my back, I worked for the Pittsburgh Penguins’ marketing team for one year, and I have an internship with Duquesne Athletics.

3 things to get out of this class:

  1. To better understand how companies use social media

  2. To widen my knowledge of different social media platforms

  3. To create content for my portfolio

One thing I’ve learned during the pandemic:

To not take things for granted. Wether it’s hanging out with friends and / or family, going on vacations, etc. Most things I want to I do that I have been doing for years I can’t do, because of the pandemic. Once this pandemic has passed, I will definitely be “living in the moment” more often, and making sure I live life to the fullest.

What I learned from Facebook Blueprint (Introduction to Facebook and Partner Measurement Solutions)

  • Facebook focuses on measuring the three core business outcome areas that matter to marketers:
    * How many people did your ads reach?
    * Did the ads reach people across multiple devices?
    * Did they generate brand awareness?
    * Did the ads change the perception of your brand?

    * Did the ads drive purchase intent?
    * Did the ads result in sales, leads, or app installs?

  • It took 75 years for the telephone to reach 50 million users, it took 38 years for the radio to reach 50 million users, and it took 13 years for TV to reach 50 million users

  • 91% of potential customers actually don’t click on any ads, and age / gender targeting ads are only 53% effective

  • How Facebook can help:

    • Facebook’s solutions measure the performance of ads served on Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and Audience Network.

    • With their measurement partners, Facebook also provide solutions that help marketers measure business outcomes both on and off Facebook.

      • Across devices (mobile and desktop)

      • Across formats (image, video, display, television and more)

      • Across publishers (in addition to Facebook, Instagram and Audience Network).
