My Approach
I decided to promote my blog article through my Email and LinkedIn. The goal was to see which platform would track more engagement and performance, by including PAC and SOC, and hashtags. I then captured my Intro Blog link to create URLs, one for each Email and LinkedIn.
Starting with the email, I attached a variety of recipients with a subject caption of “Quick Favor: Check out My Intro Blog”. I wanted to catch their attention so they would proceed to read the email:
“Hello! Attached to this email is a link to my Intro Blog post for my social media and digital marketing course. In this assignment, we will be tracking the engagement and performance regarding the link. I would appreciate it if you checked it out!”
By sending the email with some information, It can give the reader an idea of what they are participating in.
I then started my post for LinkedIn and I simply created the caption:
“Check out my blog for a Social Media course! (Blog Link) #aviation #entreprernuership #finance #aviationfinance #financemeetsaviation #opportunities.
I wanted to keep it short and to the point with a few high-traffic hashtags, that could enhance my viewers and interactions.
My Results
Based on the results as shown above, my email resulted in the most traffic and engagement compared to LinkedIn with 7 users at an average time of 1 minute and 16 seconds. Whereas, my LinkedIn only had a total of 3 users and a lower average engagement time of 24 seconds. I sent out the information initially and then waited 5 days to accumulate accurate information. These results show that the personal email was more effective maybe even because there was a detailed description of what the link was for. It seems as if the email users were more intrigued about the blog rather than the LinkedIn users who seem to have lost interest quickly. The results overall show that every user interacted differently altogether, users returned, new users, 0 seconds of engagement, 1 minute plus engagement, etc.
Moving Forward
For future reference, I plan to create a better bio and write up about what I am posting about and the purpose behind it, especially LinkedIn. On the other hand, my results did not surprise me as I have not fully developed my LinkedIn profile yet and do not have as many followers. My LinkedIn page is relatively new as I am now starting to utilize it more frequently. However, email performed better in comparison between the two for the most engagement. Email is a great platform to focus on personalization and I have learned that to emphasize that even more, I can learn to integrate with other social media approaches.
