Intro Blog Analytics

MY APPROACH:
My approach for both my Facebook and email URL were very different. I realized that my platforms on both Facebook and Gmail have very different audiences. On Facebook, I am mainly connected with family and friends. I knew that if I made the caption of my post more personable, more people would be likely to click the link to my blog. On Gmail, I know that my classmates, whom I emailed the link to, are extremely busy. I did not want to send them a longer email as I feel this would have overwhelmed them. Seeing a huge paragraph of text may stress them out more and make them less likely to help me out.
DATA REVIEW:
My Facebook channel got more users. This is most likely because my family saw my post and sent the link to members of my family who are not on Facebook. It was interesting to see this because I expected my Gmail channel to gain more users. Many of my classmates often email me with similar requests so I expected them to check out my blog just as I do for their assignments. Along with this, my Facebook channel also had more engagement time on the site. This also did not surprise me because as I said, my classmates who I emailed the link to are extremely busy.
MOVING FORWARD:
Through this assignment, I have learned that I can optimize social media rather than email. I also learned that it is important to be personable in my message. If I were to do this again, I would send out the same message through Gmail that I did on Facebook to see if the personable message was what made viewers more inclined to click on the link. Overall, I would like to optimize my time next time. Now that I understand the meaning behind these analytics, it is exciting to play around with different phrasing and messaging strategies to engage with different results.
