Summary of Google Analytics Data via Tracking Links

Garrett Perry

The created trackable links for both LinkedIn and Email allowed for my self and others to gauge a better understanding of the behaviors of digital users, and moreover how and why each platform receives more engagement or doesn’t. Email is certainly a more private landscape for digital users, and it does not shock myself and perhaps others that it didn’t reach levels of engagement like other content platforms did. I had only reached out to my immediate family members to share the blog that I had created, and it was promising that each one took at least a minute to view the blog itself. That is likely what contributed to the longer engagement time spent on the website, as it would make sense if peers of mine did not consume as much time on the platform(s). LinkedIn on the contrary is a more public, versatile space where many can view your profile and posts. I had made my post visible only to the connections I have on that platform, and that made it further difficult to grasp a larger audience. I had received at least 90 views on the post, but only had four people view the actual blog itself which is not a terrible surprise. LinkedIn had a longer period of engagement, as most who I had reached spent at least two minutes viewing the blog. Email was only 45 seconds away from having the same amount of time consumed on the platform. One user was consistent in making a return to content on both media. To grasp a more concise understanding, I believe using a different platform that also has more audience engagement in general will allow my self and others to decipher which platform is more efficient in attracting audiences. Facebook, and Instagram are two of the most widely-used applications throughout the globe. Using a trackable link for one of those platforms will likely allow one to gain a bigger audience, as well as better understand the ropes of content creation and the patterns of its users.
