Meet Joely

Intro

Hi! I’m Joely Zappia and I’m a sophomore studying Integrated Marketing Communications with a minor in Public Relations and Advertising. I have interests in public relations, marketing, and digital media content creation. I’m a member of and run the Instagram and Tik Tok for the Zeta Tau Alpha soroity here on campus. My end goal is to do marketing or content creation for a cosmetic company of some sort. When I’m given a project I always break it down into sections. I like to take projects one step at a time by starting with the fastest to the most time consuming tasks. I’m excited to see what this class offers and to meet everyone!

Something You Should Know

Something you should know is that I’m from Buffalo, New York, so I’m a Bills fan! While I might not always understand what’s going on duirng the game my brother and dad do a pretty good job trying to explain it to me. I’ve been going for years with my family and my friend group. The games feel like an event and even more special now that we can only go to a few whenever we’re home over breaks. I also have a dog named Jada who is my most prized possession. She’s a Shihpoo which is half Shitzu- half Poodle and is eight years old.

3 Things I’d Like To Gain

This class was super intriguing to me because Integrated Marketing in my opinion focuses heavily on social media and the internet. One of the things I would like to learn is how to make yourself look proffesional on a social media platform. I’d also like to look at resume’s and see if there’s anything I could change or improve on ti impress marketers. The last thing I would like to do. as mentioned in our first class, is how to have a successful and professional job interview.

Something I learned in 2023

One thing I learned in 2023 is that alone time is good for you. I used to think I gave myself too much alone time every now and then but if it makes me feel better after a weekend then that’s a good thing. In 2024 I’ll do more of what makes me feel good!
