Meet Christian
I’m a junior sports information and media major, with a minor in communications, and a business management certificate. I’m local to the Pittsburgh area and I commute to Duquesne from home. I’m taking this class because it fulfills a requirement and fits in my schedule, but I’m also eager to learn about digital marketing. I think it will help me expand my knowledge base so that I can be versatile in my future endeavors.

When I work on projects, I like to get it all done in one sitting. I start early and finish my part quick so that I don’t have to worry or stress about it later on. I feel that I work well in groups, and am a good communicator. I believe some of my skills would be public speaking, work ethic, leadership, and my imagination. I also feel that I can get along with anyone so hopefully we can effectively collaborate in class.
My Articles
Something that you should know about me is that I love to cook and am a huge movie buff. I’m sure your first response would be to ask me what my favorite movie/meal to cook is. To answer both questions, there’s too many good options to pick just one.
I’m a fan of all music, but my favorite artist is Drake. I’m going to his concert in February, and I’ve been to Rod Wave’s concerts all three times that he came to Pittsburgh.
Three things I hope to learn from this class:
-
General knowledge that will help me pursue a career in this field. Teaching lessons and experiences from someone who has done it and had success.
-
Specific ways to ethically market myself to future employers.
-
A more all around understanding of social media, and how I can use it to my advantage.
I learned a lot in 2023. I have changed a lot and through that I’ve been able to see a lot of things differently. I will be taking with me the realization that things can always get worse and that other people are going through their own struggles too. In 2024, I plan to work very hard on my future in the professional world. I want to have an internship, and commit more of myself to building my career (and starting it) so that I can be set up to support my future family.
2 Things I Learned
I learned how to be more professional and write like a journalist. Using Squarespace’s tools helped me feel like I made some real resume pieces. I think I have the ability to write as a profession now so maybe it also gave me some confidence. If not, I can definitely say I’m fluent in using Squarespace.
Another learning moment is how hard it is to get steady/real engagement. On our posts we really didn’t see much time on site or views at all. It’s amazing how rare it is for something to go viral, and that there isn’t a science to it. It makes me want to sit down and talk to famous content creators and ask them about how they came to be.
