Meet Isabella Rubolino

Hello everyone! My name is Isabella Rubolino and I am 21 and a senior here at Duquesne studying Digital Marketing and Analytics in the Business school.

I am taking this class with the hopes I will learn more about social media marketing, as it is my absolute dream job! I have not really had any education on the creative side of marketing, so I am hoping this class will provide that!

In projects, I tend to take a step back and look at the big picture of what needs to be done before I get started. Once I figure out my goals, I make a timeline for what I need to do by what date. This allows me not to become overwhelmed by the amount of work I have. I am a big fan of using planners to schedule my steps or milestones ahead of time!

Some fun facts about me, you ask?

One thing about me is that I absolutely love to read! My favorite genre is fantasy and I could get lost in those worlds on the pages for hours! Some of the best books I have read lately are, Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber and Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas! Add me on goodreads :)

Another fun fact about me is that I love to travel! I studied abroad in Rome two years ago and it was the best time of my life! I have been to eight countries including Italy, the Netherlands, Malta, and Ireland and I hope to add more to my list in the future!

  • I hope that this class will offer me practical skills on how to post correctly according to specific social media sites.

  • I hope that I will learn how to create unique and creative content in the somewhat oversaturated climate that is the internet.

  • I hope to learn that school can be fun when you are doing something you are passionate about!

The most important thing I learned in 2023…

The absolute most important thing I learned in 2023 was to believe in myself. This sounds like a cliche answer, I know, but I really mean it! As I grow closer to my professional career and graduation, I have learned that I am capable of great things! I was able to get a good internship with an employer and bosses who really believe in me! I had opportunities in my position that no other intern before me was given, and it reassured me that I have people who believe in my abilities. Given all this, I know it is well within my reach to have the life and career I have always dreamed about, as long as I believe in myself and take risks!

“Some things are worth pursuit regardless of the cost.”
— Stephanie Garber, Caraval

One of the most important things I learned was how to propertly post of social media. Working in a group and actually positing on real social media accounts taught me a lot about best practices and how to reach more people. It gave me practical insights on how to post and the difference between impressions and engagement. It also taught me how important it is to make sure you post at optimal times of da. If you have multiple people posting on one account at the same time, it is important to schedule it so that no one posts at the same time of one of the posts could be over looked.

Another important thing I learend was how to use differnet analytival tools. I had heard of Google analytics in the past, but was unsure what it all meant.Actually learning what all the different tabs meant and how to read the data has proven to be crucial for me. Also, learning how to use the different analytics tools on social media platforms was important. Seeing engagement on my psts and how many people they reached versus how many people actually engaged was a very good learning tool.
