Data for Meet Zachary Halpert Blog Performance

My Data
In an effort to promote my blog, I posted it on Facebook and sent it out via text and email. On Facebook, I also tagged my mom in the post so that both her followers and mine would see the post, bringing even more attention to the blog. In both text and email, I sent the link to the blog out to a variety of people in my contacts. Based on the results presented in the chart above, it is evident that Facebook was the most effective strategy to gain users for my blog. I believe this is due to the number of people the link reached with the least amount of effort. In order to reach 64 people by email or text, I would have to send out an individual text to each person or send it in a group message. This would entail me needing to compile a group of 64 people that I trust to view the blog and provide honest feedback. While on Facebook, I can provide all of the same people and more with the link to the blog with one quick post. This then makes it easier for me to reach all these people and for the post to reach even more that I had not originally thought about when sending out the link. Even though Facebook brought in the most users, it also had the lowest engagement time. To me, this is a result of people just quickly clicking the link out of curiosity as compared to those who I texted or emailed. In a Facebook post, there is only so much I can say that will encourage someone to spend time on my site, rather than just giving me the quick clicks. While in a text or email, I can personalize the message to give each person a reason to care about the content of the site, not just the data I need to collect. Finally, to optimize my site for next time, I will do two things. The first is to proofread the site and have someone else look at it before posting as well. One of the big things people close to me pointed out was some grammatical mistakes and ways to improve what I said. So, putting extra time into making sure the post is perfect the first time will help improve the post. Secondly, I will make sure to optimize the post for phone users. A majority of the people that visited my site would have done so on their phone but, when making the blog I created it only keeping in mind the computer view. Before sending out the links, I checked how it looked and luckily it still looked fine from a phone’s view, but in the future that may not happen so it is important I work on the post from both computer and phone view.
