Meet Noah Fries

ABOUT ME!

My name is Noah Fries, and I am a freshman here at Duquesne. I am a Sports Information and Media major, but I am also majoring in Economics as well. It would be my absolute dream to work for a professional sports team in some capacity for my future career. My ultimate goal is to be a broadcaster, but I wouldn’t mind being some sort of journalist as well. I’m taking this course because it’s extremely important to understand social media and digital marketing in our society today — in my case, learning how to market myself on social media to help my popularity grow in the sports world. My approach to projects for school or work is to attack them head on, but systematically and efficiently. I like to collaborate with others in order to get multiple opinions to create the best work we possibly can as a collective unit. Connect with me at my LinkedIn below!

What do I want to get out of this class?

My Coursework!

Throughout the first half of the semester, I have completed two assignments that highlight my growth in Social Media and Digital Marketing. My article detailing analytics of my intro blog details the best ways to measure engagement of a website through Google Analytics and trackable URLs. I also have recently completed a social media audit on the NHL to determine how the league’s content performs on its six different social media platforms to learn about optimization and growth of a brand as a whole. Check them out using these in-text links or through the buttons below!

Stupid things have good outcomes all the time.
— JJ Maybank, Outer Banks

This quote is from JJ Maybank from Outer Banks, and I feel that it is the perfect quote to sum up life as a whole. Humans have a tendency to go through life by simply going through the motions and living a boring life. This quote inspires people to do dumb things — within reason — every so often in order to live your life to the fullest. Not everything in life needs to be what society sees as the right or smart thing to do — doing crazy things on a whim with the people you love and care about most is what life is all about.

What You Should Know About Me…

My friends and family are the most important things in the world to me. I would very much be lost without them. I couldn’t even begin to imagine where I would be in my life without the love and support that my family and friends have given me throughout my life, and for that I am eternally grateful.

One Thing I Learned in 2024 to Bring Into 2025

The biggest thing that I learned in 2024 that I would want to bring in to 2025 is that I always need to be genuinely, unapologetically myself. In high school, I always felt like I couldn’t be who I truly was because of the people and the climate I found myself in. As I got on campus this past August, however, I found myself in a brand new environment where I was finally able to be myself and create lasting relationships from simply being myself — something that I was never able to truly experience in my past. I learned that the best people in life will like you for who you genuinely are — and I will never look back.
