Hi! I’m Zachary Halpert, a sophomore Sports Information and Media major at Duquesne University. I am also in the process of obtaining my certificate in Business Management at the university. I am taking this course as part of my major and my goal is to take away valuable skills from it. These skills will propel my career and afford me the ability to use multiple platforms. This will provide a head start over the competition. When it comes to organizing my day, whether school projects or work, I outline my tasks and efficiently execute all tasks. Another important aspect for me is communication. Whether it be in groups or individually, working with others in a team atmosphere is my passion. Teamwork allows collaboration and improves efficiency.

“Let me tell you something you already know: The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!”
This quote inspires me because it constantly reminds me to keep going. If I let the troubles of my life dictate my future, I will never live my life. So, I have to be able to take the punches, use them as motivation, and push on.
More About Me
I am apart of the Men’s Club Lacrosse team here at Duquesne. I joined the team first semester of my freshman year and have been apart of it since. Playing lacrosse has always been an escape from reality for me, so being able to play past high school has allowed me to continue to use it that way and continue to play the sport I love. Being on the team has also allowed me to create lasting friendships with my teammates.
On top of my love for lacrosse, I also love to travel. I have gone to a plethora of places over the past couple of years and throughout my life. Traveling has allowed me to experience various cultures and to explore different places. Traveling has also led me to trying many new things, from food to ziplining. My favorite places have been Norway, Italy, Netherlands, and Jamaica.
I also have two tattoos, one on my right thigh and the other on the left side of my chest. Both tattoos are in honor of my dad.
The tattoo on top is written in Hebrew, connecting me back to my religion (Judaism). The translation is “I love you Bubba.” Bubba was the nickname my dad gave me. The tattoo on the bottom has the date my dad passed on in roman numerals, 3/22/2020.
3 things I want to take away from this course:
Data collection and analysis
Tactics for increased engagement and reach
How to effectively use different tools and sites
What I learned in 2024…
The value of time. While being young and living life is fun, but you only have so much time to do it. Over the years, especially 2024, I begun to appreciate every second I have on Earth, because I never know when it will be my last. So if there is one thing I am taking into 2025 with me, it is the appreciation and value for time.
