Somethings You Should Know!
-
Last year I started working part time in PENSTV for the Pittsburgh Penguins. I got the job from interning with them in the spring. So far I have had such a great experience being a part of the Penguins team. My main tasks are filming media scrums after games and practices in the locker room. However, I have gotten to assist on major shoots such as Creative Day, and even produce and edit packages for the Jumbotron!

January 2023 I was invited to play for Team USA women’s ice hockey team for the FISU Winter World University Games! The games took play in Lake Placid, NY. I got to live, meet, and watch other athletes competing from all around the world! Some of my favorite moments were getting to be a part of the opening ceremony, getting to compete against Canada in a packed arena, making friends, and trading pins with people from all over the world, and once the games were done partying with team Japan!

My mom is originally from Melbourne Australian! She moved to the States after college due to her love of skiing. All of my mom’s side of the family is still all down under and we get to take a 14 hour plane ride to visit every so often! I’m currently in the process of getting my duel citizenship!
One Thing 2024 Taught Me
One of the biggest lessons 2024 taught me was to trust myself and my abilities. After graduating with my Bachelors of Arts in the spring of 2024 I struggled with imposter syndrome.
While my undergraduate education definitely provided me with the tools needed to pursue career opportunities and further my studies in graduate school, at the time, I felt like I was just pretending to possess any of them. When I started applying for jobs and graduate programs, I worried that people would see right through my polished resume, impressive internships, and freshly earned degree to find someone who was a fraud.
I had a hard time giving myself credit for all the great things I had accomplished in my undergrad. It felt difficult to trust that I was capable of delivering on the promises I made in applications. As much as I doubted myself I went through with the applications anyways, and I am so thankful I did. Being accepted into the graduate program at Duquesne University and joining the production team with the Pittsburgh Penguins made me realize that the only thing holding me back from great opportunities was my own self doubt.
I learned that I need to trust myself and that I am more capable than I give myself credit for. I hope to bring this lack of self doubt into 2025 so I can continue to gain and experience amazing opportunities.
