✰Meet Leah Amaismeier ✰
Hello! 𐙚
My name is Leah and I am a Senior at Duquesne University majoring in Finance with a minor in Entrepreneurship. As this is not a required course for my major or minor, I decided to join this class simply because of my strong interest in learning more about social media and digital marketing. Social media is a strong marketing strategy and there is some truth to the idea that if you are a good marketer, you can essentially sell anything! I published a Promotion and Tracking of My Intro Blog post, which shows how I tracked the clicks and engagement from different social media platforms to this post of mine. Similarly but differently, I also did a Dove Social Media Audit where I tracked their social media engagement and performance based on what, when, and where they post.
In both school and life, I have developed a style where I focus on completing tasks correctly and efficiently the first time. Putting in the effort from the start saves time and prevents the need for redo’s. With this approach, I can confidently move forward knowing the task was completed properly. This is particularly important with social media and marketing, as first impressions are a big deal! With such fast-paced media, the goal is to ensure your audience is resonating with your message.
Something to Know About Leah
I’m a student pilot! Learning to fly has been the most exciting and rewarding experience. Being able to explore the world from a birds-eye view is unmatchable. It has taught me to be more confident, focused, and have better decision-making under pressure. I have also learned a lot about how important discipline and goal setting truly are. These skills of flying also relate to social media marketing through the quick decision-making and quick thinking process. I am excited to keep learning and apply these concepts to other areas of my life.

3 Things I Hope To Learn In Social Media and Digital Marketing
SEO understanding and how to enhance online engagement and views for a property I am looking to market.
Micro-targeting strategies and how to make ads pop up on other people’s phones just by their searches, likes, etc.
Strategies/ analytics for content creation to enhance attraction and traffic.
Motivation
“It’s supposed to be hard. If it were easy, everyone would do it”
Leah’s 2024 to 2025 Thoughts
Simply, be resilient and never give up. You can not fail if you do not give up. Challenges may be overwhelming but as long as you stay focused and keep trying, you will not fail. Every setback is an opportunity to learn and do better. Always look at the positive no matter how hard and frustrating it can be. If you tell yourself it will be hard, you will expect it and feel accomplished. However, if you tell yourself it will be easy, you will feel defeated when it is hard. Trust the process and make your goals happen!

2 Things I Learned About My Work From Digital Analytics
The Importance of Having a Specific Target Audience
Throughout all of my assignments in this course, I have learned that your target audience always has to be in mind whether you are thinking of your target audience as you’re making your content or when you make your content you think about who you are going to post it towards. Without a specific target audience it will not get the engagement that you would like it to. When content covers too many different topics it is hard to keep people interested and stay on the page. I noticed that focused post about an educational or general topic, such as marketing tips, do way better. Throughout our time using Google analytics, it has showed that people stay longer when they know what to expect as they keep reading. I first didn’t understand that if I want to make my content for students versus a small business, it should be tailored a little bit differently because they both are very similar but also in very different stages. If you can target correctly and catch people’s interest, you can basically market anything.
Similar targets but different expectations and interests.
2. Small Changes Can Improve Overall Engagement
Through throughout my time using Squarespace and creating post on different social media platforms, I have learned that small changes can help content get way more attention. Throughout the first few weeks of using Squarespace I really noticed that the way I design my blog can help my content get more engagement, such as adding better titles, the size of the text, the colors, the photos, the keywords, and links to other websites or posts. I didn’t think that the design and layout would matter much in a sense that not everybody likes the same things especially what can be aesthetically pleasing. But the small things such as font size and type can make such a big difference. When I was posting for my social media content, I did use hashtags, but didn’t know if people ever even clicked on them. When I was looking at my analytics throughout the semester, it actually shows that some people truly did click on the hashtags honestly rather than even liking the page or the post. Sometimes just giving the audience that connection is all they need. These small things can make a difference in who sees my content.
This is showing 3 of my content posts and how I have slowly started to increase my views as I learned throughout each post!
