Meet Wyatt Caber
A LITTLE ABOUT ME…
Hello, my name is Wyatt Caber. I am a junior at Duquesne University. My major is Sports Information and Media. I am also pursuing a Business Certificate. With that I have aspirations to someday work for a professional sports team! I also enlisted in the Army National Guard in April of 2021. I’m not just taking this class because it is required for my major, but also because Professor Daly does a good job preparing his students for what to expect once we graduate. Also, understanding social media marketing in today's day and age is extremely important. In terms of my approach to projects, whether that would be for school or work is usually comprised of having a set schedule and isolating myself. In the past I have fallen victim to procrastination, so recently I made it a priority to have a set time every day to do work. I’m working on making this a habit. Isolating myself without any distractions allows me to focus solely on the project and nothing else.
Three things I would like to get out of the semester...
1. I would like to get more familiar with Google Analytics and learn more about how it works.
2. I would like to learn what goes into choosing the correct platform to use with certain products.
3. I want to build up my LinkedIn account to better prepare me for a job search.
“Everything negative- pressure, challenges, is all an opportunity for me to rise”
This quote inspires me for a variety of reasons. For one, Kobe was one of my favorite players growing up and his “Mamba Mentality” taught me at a young age the importance of hard work in not just sports, but in life. The quote itself hits home for me because there are a lot of things in life that can bring you down... but if you are true to yourself and put everything you have into bettering yourself, you can accomplish anything.
Something you should know about me but didn’t ask...
One thing that most people don’t know about me is that I have been a die-hard Oklahoma City Thunder fan ever since I was a little kid. When I was in Elementary school my mom gifted me a Kevin Durant notebook. Since there is obviously no Pittsburgh NBA team, I have stuck with the Thunder ever since.
One thing I learned that I want to bring into 2025...
In 2024 I was always so worried about failing in all aspects. If I didn’t do something perfect the first go around, I would just break myself down. In 2025 I want to learn from past failures and be open to making mistakes without beating myself up.
Academic Research-Social Media & Digital Marketing:
The “Reporting of Intro Blog” button will lead you to my other blog, which reports on how this blog is getting engagement wise.
This button will lead you to my other blog, where I cover the company Airbnb. In this blog I do research on how Airbnb runs their different social media platform’s and what they need to improve and build upon.
To create these links I used the Google Campaign URL Builder and built a link that will be made of different sources, campaign names, and mediums to make a link that would work for any different platform I link it on. In this case, I signed out of Squarespace to get rid of the config from the end of the link and then copy that into the buttons you see above. I hope you read a little more of my work and learn something!
Two Things I Learned About My Work From Digital Analytics:
The first thing I learned was how important it is to check for broken links. The links that you create may seem to be the easiest part of the process, however it may be the most important. To share your blog or whatever you are putting out there, you have to make separate links for each platform. If one little thing is wrong with the link, Google Analytics will not track all the progress and interaction you are getting. With that said, it is important to constantly check to see if your links are good to go.
The second thing I learned about my work from digital analytics is to understand your strengths of your primary channel group. There are many factors for each social media platform that will either increase or decrease engagement. It’s good to be balanced throughout all platforms so you are getting engagement everywhere, however if you are significantly stronger with content for one platform, keep doing what you are doing. There is always something you can learn in the world of social media marketing, so trying to get better at what you are bad in will open you up to great things.
